CONNECT TO THE PROBLEM
According to the Veterans Administration, 272,000 Veterans received treatment for PTSD in 2006. That number increased to 476,000 in 2011.
Up to 20% of the 2.6 million Veterans of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars may have PTSD, according to the Institute of Medicine of the National Academies.
That means as many as 520,000 Veterans are suffering with the serious psychological consequences of their military service to our country. Despite the growing body of research and anecdotal evidence that supports the value and benefits of Assistance Dogs, the government and insurance companies will not pay for or provide insurance coverage for them.
CONNECT TO THE SOLUTION
Injured U.S. military veterans know the suffering, isolation and despair associated with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), traumatic brain-injuries (TBI), physical challenges and other related symptoms of war. Believet works to help relieve veterans of these burdens of war to enable a more productive, independent, freedom-filled life.
We rescue exceptional dogs to serve an extraordinary role – to be an all-embracing support system for our veterans: physical support, mental support, and emotional support. A service dog provides a sense of security, greater independence, enhanced quality of life, and peace of mind for our military veterans – veterans who deserve our care and compassion.
A dog’s nonjudgmental and affectionate nature proves to be just the right answer to the challenges Veterans face upon returning to civilian life. Even when friends and family have a difficult time understanding a Veteran’s experiences in the service, a well-trained dog can help provide that caring connection we all seek. An assistance dog eases veteran loneliness and despair, which in turn helps to reduce the risk of suicide.
CONNECT WITH GENEROSITY
Believet provides highly skilled assistance dogs, free of charge, to disabled veterans. And you are a deeply critical connection in making our work possible. Your generous donation helps us create a transformative difference in the lives of our veterans and their families, thereby strengthening both the individual and the community toward greater good.
Our veterans deserve our help and compassion, because they’ve earned it. They’ve served our country; now it’s our turn to serve them. Our goal is to reduce vet reliance on medical services and products, including medications. Further, we hope to ease veteran loneliness and despair, which in turn, helps reduce the very real risk of suicide.
Please join us in facilitating the integration of veterans back into society. Your investment builds healthier and safer communities, in addition to supporting our work to aggregate the data that will prove the treatment efficacy of using assistance dogs. We rely on the generosity of people just like you. Give a gift that inspires vets and their families, while impacting generations to come.
Please donate now and help us help a Veteran in need.
