WORKING DOGS FOR VETS
LAWRENCEBURG, TennesseeMission & Impact Statement: Working Dogs For Vets Our Mission Working Dogs For Vets is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to providing medically prescribed service dogs to disabled veterans at zero cost to the hero. We operate on a unique "Dual-Impact" model: rescuing high-potential shelter dogs and professionally training them to mitigate symptoms of PTSD, Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), mobility impairments, and diabetic conditions. We are committed to saving lives at both ends of the leash. The Problem: A Crisis of Care Every day, veterans face the interconnected challenges of physical disability, mental health crises, and social isolation. Simultaneously, thousands of shelter dogs are euthanized due to overcrowding. Working Dogs For Vets provides a sustainable, scalable solution to both crises. Our Innovative Model: Efficiency & Excellence We take pride in maintaining one of the lowest cost-per-placement rates in the nation. While the industry average for a service dog often exceeds $30,000, our strategic use of volunteer networks, professional training partnerships, and veteran-led mentorship allows us to provide life-saving assistance dogs with unprecedented fiscal efficiency. Assistive Medical Intervention: Our dogs are not pets; they are trained medical assets that perform task-specific functions—interrupting panic attacks, providing physical stability, and alerting to medical crises—effectively reducing veteran reliance on emergency services and long-term institutionalization. Veteran Empowerment: Our program fosters "Purpose-Driven Recovery," where veterans participate in the training process, regaining a sense of mission and community connection. National Reach & Expansion Originally rooted in Tennessee, our impact has expanded across the Southeast (Georgia, Florida) and into the Midwest and Western regions (Kentucky, Ohio, Colorado, and the Carolinas). We are actively scaling our outreach to underserved populations in the National Forest areas and the Northeast to ensure no veteran is left behind due to geography. Why Partner With Us? Working Dogs For Vets is a vetted, results-oriented organization. A partnership through Benevity or corporate grants directly funds: Canine Rescue & Rehabilitation: Initial medical screening, temperament testing, and advanced task-training for shelter rescues. Veteran Education: Comprehensive workshops, certification fees, and lifelong support for the veteran/dog team. Suicide Prevention: By providing independence and a constant support system, our dogs are a front-line defense against veteran isolation and suicide. Join the Mission We invite corporate partners and philanthropic leaders to join us in honoring those who served. Your support provides the training, medical care, and certification necessary to turn a rescued dog into a veteran’s lifeline. Together, we are building stronger communities, reducing shelter overcrowding, and—most importantly—saving lives.
