MOORE WRIGHT GROUP

The Moore Wright Group (TMWG) is a unique BIPOC lead 501(c)(3) organization that leverages agreements with local and national retailers to donate large numbers of unused and often brand-new goods -- everything from food and basic necessities to furniture and household appliances -- to families in need, at no cost to the families. Our mission is to break the cycle of poverty, abuse, and abandonment in our community by providing hope. In addition to providing direct outreach and resources to clients in 31 counties in Washington, we also partner with over 400 hundred other nonprofit organizations, 75 school districts, Tribes and government agencies to reach as many people as possible across the state and beyond. Our primary constituents are low-income and economically disadvantaged adults and families, including those affected by domestic violence, sexual assault and other crimes.

In 2020, TMWG distributed more than $27 million worth of goods to 1.1M families in Washington. An average of 84 pallets a week of donated items from retailers such as Amazon, Walmart, Target, ULine, Map International, Save the Children and Good360 are processed at warehouse locations.

TMWG has serviced seven (7) states – Washington, Oregon, Alabama, Tennessee, Indiana, New Jersey, North Carolina. In 2020, we distributed $23,876,262 in goods to 1,873,855 families. In Washington, we distributed 135, 065 boxes of food during that time. During the Pandemic, our Disaster Distribution Center assisted 1,573,855 families, 328 organizations and 70 School Districts, and distributed $18,376,245 in goods to Washington families and organizations.

TMWG currently has 1 box truck with another being purchased in the near future by our generous international partner, We Save the Children. We have three (3) distribution buses that have been retrofitted to meet our communities needs. TMWG is housed in a 44,000 sq ft warehouse which has cold storage and a commercial kitchen. These assets will be deployed to meet the needs of the Resource Connection Center program. TMWG has just also purchased our 44,000 sq ft building, 17 homes, 8 housing lots, and 3 mixed use commercial lots to develop into an affordable housing community called the Legacy Project.

Grays Harbor County is considered a Rural community with census information of 73,901 residents in the entire county including those who are incarcerated at the Stafford Creek Correctional Facility in Aberdeen, WA and Grays Harbor County Jail in Montesano Washington. The racial makeup of the population of Grays Harbor County is majority Caucasian with 87.10% of the population being Caucasian, and only 1.40% of the population being African American. Grays Harbor County does have diversity with 5.60% of the population being Native American, and over 10.30% of the population identifying as Hispanic or Latino. The population of those who are incarcerated according to Prison Policy over 16.9% of those incarcerated in Grays Harbor County are African American, and 10.40% of the population are Hispanic or Latino. Those who are incarcerated and are Caucasian makeup 62.20% of the incarcerated population and 87.10% of the general population.
The Moore Wright Group’s Resource Connection Center (RCC) is designed to provide tangible goods, supportive housing, strength based case management, community resources, employment opportunities, workforce development training and supportive services to those who are 18 years and older who are coming out of incarceration or have a history of incarceration. Our focus of our program is Grays Harbor County based out of our 44,000 sq ft facility in Aberdeen WA. The Moore Wright Group has services through the state of Washington, however we feel that an adequate place to expand into this pilot would be our facility at 1401 Simpson Avenue Aberdeen WA 98520.
The Resource Connection Center (RCC) is a resource hub that was originally created to work with survivors of abuse and abandonment, in Washington to be able to heal, and restart their lives. Todate since its inception in 2018 the RCC has assisted over 348 families. From new clothing, shoes, home essentials, family hygiene items, and life skill classes to foster healing and create long term goals; the RCC is designed to give tangible resources to survivors of abuse and abandonment and youth in adjudication, so they can become stable, functional, thriving and self-sufficient members of the community. It is our anticipation that the RCC would be able to expand its services to be able to focus on those coming out of incarceration and would then be able to assist directly and indirectly hundreds of community members who are coming out of incarceration this year alone.

The TMWG is a community logistics hub that is broken down into programs that allow for services to be offered and enrolled into that would allow for participants to have a holistic support system to be able to make changes for the better. The TMWG Programs are: the Resource Distribution Center, The Disaster Distribution Center, The Resource Connection Center, The Resource Bank, Experience Hope Project, The Warehouse and Logistics Academy, The Recovery Cafe, Legacy Housing

The Resource Distribution (RDC) brings in and distributes new donations from retailers to government agencies and organizations that directly service youth, domestic violence survivors and victims of crimes in the state of Washington and Oregon to help them assist their clients to maintain a better quality of life, while meeting immediate needs. The RDC will implement workforce development training components that participants can learn hands-on (i.e. forklift, distribution center processing, and inventory management). The RDC distributes tangible needed goods and services to over 38 organizations, school districts, and government agencies in Grays Harbor alone to impact more than 32,000 residents a year in GHC county alone. The RDC is a pivotal part of our organization distributing over 27M dollars worth of goods last year alone, TMWG works to help communities thrive.

The Disaster Distribution Center (DDC) assists the community when disaster strikes. From COVID to floods TMWG assists the community with recovery short and long term. In 2019 TMWG was asked by a group of international organizations and companies(Good360, Map International, Ferguson's, and Heart to Heart International) to consider starting a Disaster Distribution Center in the state of Washington at our facility. There is no other dedicated facility in the Pacific Northwest that was a dedicated receiver of donated goods and distribution expertise when disasters hit and distributor to other agencies. In 2019 TMWG started our Disaster Distribution Center to assist with disasters that affect Washington State. Since the program's inception we have assisted in Nisqually Floods in 2019, Bonney Lake Sumner Fire 2020, Eastern Washington Fire 2020, and the COVID-19 Pandemic. With the COVID-19 TMWG was very creative in serving the state the best way we could. We partnered with over 320 organizations, school districts, local government agencies, and Tribes to service families. From distributing over 100,000 face masks in partnership with Pierce County EMS, to distributing 40,000 hygiene and ppe packs to the West Seattle School District we worked to make sure that families had what they needed to stay home, and stay safe. TMWG supplied over 75 mass distribution in the state of Washington with supplies to help Washingtonians reduce the curve. We assisted over 1.8 million families during COVID.

The Resource Connection Center (RCC) allows individuals and families to come to our location and “shop” for basic and immediate need items, due to COVID-19 distributions of these items sometimes having an order placed and filled instead of a constant shop situation. The Resource Connection Center also gives skills training around customer service, and is created more like a retail training center with classes offered around excel, customer service, communication, computer skills, and product placement. Through our partnership with Udemy and our existing training program we are excited to be able to offer this extension of soft skills training, and leadership development training throughout the RCC. The participants would also benefit from the items of the Resource Bank supplies including monthly hygiene items, laundry supplies, clothing for their entire family. The Resource Connection Center is a pivotal access point as well as an opportunity to improve the quality of life for our community members. In 2022 the Resource Connection Center will become Mobile to help bring needed resources to rural communities.

The Resource Bank is a program to support schools, and organizations to set up resource closets and centers in their facilities. Organizations, Schools, and Churches request items on a monthly basis to be able to support low income families in their communities. From clothes and shoes to basic hygiene items, The Resource Bank allows partners of TMWG to be able to better service the community quicker with supplies on hand

Our Experience Hope project is a skills building, community direct services support and distribution and support building classes, referrals to instill hope into clients of the TMWG. The Experience Hope Project hosts Summer Feeding Programs, Summer Reading, Christmas Gift Distributions, Programs, Easter Egg hunts and projects that help our communities experience hope to know that they are not alone and that there are people who care. Our Experience Hope Programs are usually seasonally based but every event and distribution has an impact of over 1,500 families during every service.

Our Warehouse and Logistics Academy. As a Washington State certified Eligible Training Provider, we offer workforce development courses in Certified Logistics Associate, Certified Logistics Technician, Certified Production Technician, OSHA 10 and Forklift Operation.
