HIVES FOR HEROES

Frontline Hives is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that empowers veterans and first responders by reconnecting them with nature through the practice of beekeeping. Our mission is rooted in the belief that working with honeybees offers more than just environmental benefit—it provides a powerful path to healing, purpose, and community for those who have served on the front lines.

At its core, Frontline Hives creates opportunities for veterans and first responders to engage in hands-on, restorative work through the stewardship of honeybee colonies. Participants are trained in sustainable beekeeping practices and provided with the resources, mentorship, and support needed to maintain thriving hives. In doing so, they gain valuable skills, a renewed sense of mission, and the calming, therapeutic benefits of working in harmony with nature. At the end of the six week training cycle, Frontline Hive participants receive a fully stocked beehive, free of charge.

For participants that are looking to possibly start a small business, Frontline Hives partners with Wind & Sky Apiaries, a company that places apiaries on large tracts of land owned by environmentally conscious partners—such as solar farms, conservation properties, and corporate campuses—thereby multiplying the program’s impact.

We integrate education, ecological restoration, and mental health into a single, scalable program. Each hive represents more than pollination—it’s a living symbol of resilience, environmental stewardship, and the enduring strength of our veteran and first responder communities.
