Service to country. What better way to teach young people the values of honor, courage, and commitment than to serve in the military? Yet too many kids trapped in failing schools can't pass the ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery) - the first step to enlistment.
That's where we come in. Our instructors - all veterans themselves - meet with these candidates to teach them the math and literacy skills necessary to pass the ASVAB and serve in the Armed Forces.
Last year 32 of our candidates passed the test and enlisted in all four branches of the military; their average score increasing by 100% with just 14.5 hours of instruction! We have since expanded from the Denver Metro Area to Phoenix and Flagstaff, Arizona, including the Navajo Nation Reservation.
Since 350,000 people fail this test every year, we have our work cut out for us. Help us give direct aid to the young people who need it most: those stuck in schools that didn't prepare them for a future of service.
Let's break this cycle and give them an opportunity to make something of themselves. It's time to pay it forward.
