Education provides accurate information to foster curiosity, creativity and thoughtful consideration so that people are empowered to make choices and take action for the balanced benefit of themselves, other people, animals and the environment.

Our organization works diligently to reduce the population of homeless and unwanted animals through our low or no cost spay and neuter services.
We provide no or low cost spay and neuter of owned pets for low-income residents in our county. There are no veterinarians in Saginaw County that will adjust their spay/neuter charges based on one's income. Additionally, there are no low cost spay and neuter clinics. Many people cannot afford to fix their pets at any cost. There are 18,600 households in Saginaw County that live below the poverty level that own at least one pet- we are their safety net. Without the Humane Society of Saginaw County stepping up to fill this void thousand more puppies and kittens will be born into suffering, homelessness and neglect.

We provide Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) of Community Cats. TNR is the most effective and humane means to address the cat overpopulation problem. We live trap, transport to a veterinary clinic where the cats are fixed, vaccinated and treated for any medical issues. The cats are then returned to their outside home, which is typically a caretaker's yard. TNR stops the breeding cycle of cats and therefore improves their lives while preventing reproduction. Kittens and cats who are friendly or can be socialized are entered into our adoption program never to be returned outdoors.

We rescue the most seriously neglected, suffering, homeless and abandoned animals from the outdoors, left behind when people move out, from condemned hoarder's homes. We are always true to our name.... A Humane Society. The animals we rescue are emotionally and physically rehabilitated in foster homes. They are medically treated for all injuries and illness. All rescues are HW/FIV/FeLV tested, spayed/neutered, vaccinated and 100% healthy when placed up for adoption. We request $50 for a cat or kitten and $125 for a puppy or dog. The animals we rescue are so weak and neglected that our average cost of rescue is $350 per cat and $750 per dog from intake until adoption.

We offer free pet food and supplies to households experiencing financial difficulties. We understand and respect the unique and important bond between humans and their animals. Especially seniors, people living alone or people with mental health issues, their pet is of vital importance to giving them a reason to get out of bed every day.
