FRIENDS OF THE SHELTER

Tangi Animal Friends (TAF)was founded in 1995 to address the absence of an animal shelter in Tangipahoa Parish. Once the animal shelter was established, the group shifted its focus to Cat and dog overpopulation which had led to an overfilled shelter with high euthanasia rates. TAF responded by changing its focus to a spay neuter mission. We worked for many years with the parish shelter by promoting and financing spay days and adoption days. In the last five years, TAF began working with local veterinary clinics that agreed to discounted spay neuter services. Our focus is to provide affordable sterilization of pets for people receiving food stamps, disability, Medicaid, college students on need-based aid, and U.S. veterans. One-time emergency pet food supplies, rabies vaccines, and microchipping have been added to our current projects.
