The Code of Support Foundation was established in 2010 by Major General (RET) Alan B. Salisbury with the goal of bridging the growing divide of understanding and engagement between our military and civilian communities. Working with a dedicated team of retired military and civilian leaders, he developed the “Code of Support” for our troops as a parallel document to the Military “Code of Conduct” in which service-members pledge that they are prepared to give their lives in defense of our country. The Code of Support is a set of six meaningful commitments all American’s can make to give meaning to the words, “support our troops.”
COSF has three integrated programs; a comprehensive case coordination program; a collaborative support network; and an education and engagement program. Because of our integrated approach, we often receive critical referrals from some of the most recognized veteran organizations and agencies including Wounded Warrior Project® and the VA. Within the past two years, we’ve seen tremendous expansion in the demand for our case coordination services and we are rapidly increasing our efforts to meet that demand.
COSF’s team of trained case coordinators and veteran peer navigators are dedicated to helping military and veteran families in crisis. We work to identify, prioritize and fulfill the often multiple and complex needs of these families, by partnering with a network of organizations across the country to ensure their successful transition into civilian life. Within the past two years, we’ve seen tremendous expansion in the demand for our case coordination services and we are rapidly increasing our efforts to meet that demand.
COSF is changing the way service providers are sharing information. We developed the first-ever cloud-based platform to connect local service providers to national veteran resources. This national platform, designed by service providers for service providers, will help all of them easily navigate and find resources for the SMVF they are assisting. Our tool will significantly enhance the Warrior Veteran & Family Support (WVFS) National Collaborative and is expected to launch in spring 2016.
COSF provides civilian Americans (the 99%) with a variety of recommendations, tools, events and opportunities to learn about, connect with and support military service members, veterans and their families (the 1%). We also advocate about issues facing our military family community and regularly run events and activities in support of these interests. Anyone can help and we have 99 WAYS that Americans can get involved in supporting the troops, their families, and the nation.
