Sixteen-year-old Dakota Riley has big aspirations to play collegiate football– and like his dad did, he has the potential to reach them. But when he acts out on the advances of a gay classmate one afternoon, his plans are thrown for a loop, and the incident sets off a chain of events that leave him struggling with his sexuality and identity– an identity he’s always had a firm grasp on. To begin coming to terms with himself, Dakota must navigate the disciplined world of high school football– and the expectations that come with it.
