As we navigate through 2026, at risk youth and families across the nation continue to face ongoing food security crisis, including 1.7 million children in Texas alsone. Many face a widening "hunger gap" as benefits fail to keep pace with rising costs and inflation.
Project Overview:
'No Student Hungry," is an ongoing initiative of The Uvalde Foundation For Kids, serving as a frontline response to the ongoing community hunger crisis. We recognize that food insecurity is a precursor to community instability and personal trauma. Our project is designed to provide a consistent, comprehensive, and dignified food and grocery lifeline to low-income families, homeless and "at-risk youth."
Core Operations & Impact
Utilizing an agile network of partner agencies and mobile food pantries, this initiative ensures that zip code does not determine a child’s access to nutrition. Our mobile outreaches focus on school communities first!
* Nutritional Diversification: We supplement household budgets with a mix of fresh produce, proteins, and shelf-stable goods, prioritizing health-conscious options that are often the first to be cut during benefit reductions.
* 24 hour Street Outreach: Our specialized teams conduct direct outreach to reach the "unseen" hungry—specifically youth and families in transitional housing who may no longer qualify for federal aid.
* Immediate Relief: In direct response, we have distributed thousands of emergency H-E-B gift cards to families in high-need areas in 2025 during the SNAP crisis, restoring dignity by allowing parents to shop for their children’s specific needs.

* The Hub: Our Central Texas residency chapters in Temple and Dallas and San Antonio serve as scalable model for this work, offering a stable, centralized resource where youth can find not only a hot meal but safety and temporary shelter. These Central Texas chapters serve as models for our growing network nationwide.
