To utilize collaborative filmmaking as a therapeutic pathway for veterans coping with posttraumatic and other service-related stress to validate their service accomplishments, reduce social isolation, and strengthen family, community and professional bonds; and Through regular community screenings, break down barriers between veterans and civilians, and educate the public about the mental health challenges facing veterans and military families today.
Patton Veterans Project holds collaborative filmmaking workshops enabling often at-risk veterans to collaborate on short narrative films that express relevant service experiences. The filmmaking teams are supported by highly experienced film instructors - many of whom are veterans. A VA clinical study of this one-of-a-kind program has shown that 80% of veterans with PTSD and NOT enrolled with the VA take an appt within 3 months of completing the workshop.
