PATTON VETERANS PROJECT INC

Patton Veterans Project holds collaborative filmmaking workshops enabling often at-risk veterans to collaborate on short narrative films that express relevant service experiences. The filmmaking teams are supported by highly experienced film instructors - many of whom are veterans. A VA clinical study of this one-of-a-kind program has shown that 80% of veterans with PTSD and NOT enrolled with the VA take an appt within 3 months of completing the workshop.

Integral to the workshop protocol is a community screening several weeks after the workshop where servicemen and women present their films to family, friends and community members: These screenings have proven invaluable to a broader awareness of understanding of the challenges facing veterans and their families, and to reducing the growing military-civilian divide.

The veterans are also tracked by peer specialists following the workshop to ensure that they get the support they need.

To date, PVP has held more than 80 workshops, enabling some 1500 vets to create more than 300 short films since 2011.
