THE INTERNATIONAL COURT COUNCIL INC

International Court Council is a 501c(3) non-profit public charity recognized by the United States Internal Revenue Service. In 1965, World War II veteran and the first openly gay candidate for political office (1961), Jose Julio Sarria, was crowned Empress I of San Francisco, and established the first chapter of the Imperial Court System. There are now chapters in over 70 cities across the United States, Canada and Mexico. Among the major accomplishments of the International Court System in the last 55 years are: • Millions of dollars raised for countless charities and social service organizations • Sponsor of the LGBTQ Marches on Washington D.C. • Organized and led the national campaign that resulted in the Harvey Milk U.S. Postage Stamp • Led the campaign resulting in a street named after Jose Sarria in San Francisco; the first street named after an openly gay man in San Francisco • Organized and led the successful letter writing campaign that resulted in the U.S. Navy naming the U.S.N.S. Harvey Milk • Founded and established the National LGBTQ Wall of Honor within the historic Stonewall Inn, New York, NY
