PHOENIX ASIAN AMERICAN LIONS FOUNDATION

The Phoenix Asian American Lions Club was founded on May 5, 2015. Since then, the club has continued to showcase their impactful projects across various areas, highlighting the club's dedication, community engagement and the global reach of their efforts. Vision for the Future: Understanding the critical importance of sight, the club has initiated vision screening programs, providing free eye exams and glasses to underserved communities. The club has its annual Eye Cataract Surgical Missions to Caborca, Mexico the weekend before Thanksgiving, giving sights to about 90 patients. A team of 20 medical doctors, nurses and professionals from Phoenix coordinate the project with the Caborcan Lions Club. These efforts have brightened the world for many, ensuring that distance or financial constraints do not blur the future of those in need.

A Hunger-Free World: In tackling hunger, the club has partnered with Market On the Move and other local hunger organizations, ensuring that every hand that reaches out for help finds sustenance. Their dedication goes beyond feeding the hungry; it's about nourishing hope and fostering a community where no one goes hungry.

Battling Pediatric Cancer: With a tender touch and a heart full of empathy, the club supports families battling pediatric cancer through its partnership with Childrens Cancer Network. The club's donation and that of the Lions District 21N have been instrumental in providing not just financial assistance but also a shoulder to lean on, illuminating the path through the darkest times.

Youth Engagement and Empowerment: Believing in the power of the youth, the Phoenix Asian American Lions Club continues to thrive with its Leos (ages 13-18) and Cubs (12 and below) programs by engaging young minds in volunteerism and leadership training, they're not just preparing them for the future; they're shaping the leaders of tomorrow.

Diabetes Awareness and Action: Recognizing the silent epidemic of diabetes, the club has spearheaded health fairs and diabetes screenings with its partnership with other non-profit organizations. Through education and early detection, they aim to curb the tide of diabetes and help individuals lead healthier lives.

Disaster Response and Preparedness: In times of disaster, the club has been quick to mobilize, providing aid and support to affected communities. From natural calamities to unforeseen crises, their readiness to serve has been a source of strength and recovery for many.

Humanitarian Missions Beyond Borders: The club's reach extends beyond local communities, touching lives globally through humanitarian missions to the Philippines and Mexico. From providing washing stations to elementary schools in underprivileged towns to providing medical aid and financial support in disaster-stricken areas in the Philippines, their global footprint is marked by compassion and solidarity.

Championing the Environment: With a deep understanding of the interconnection between humans and nature, the club has initiated clean-up drives at Tonto National Forest with its 3x a year engagements, recycling empty water bottles and re-purposing towels and bed linens to a pet shelter. Their efforts are a testament to their commitment to preserving the planet for future generations.

Supporting Veterans and Military Families: Recognizing the sacrifices made by military personnel and their families, the club provides support with its partnership with Military Support Foundation providing care packages and weekly food distribution. The club honor their service by ensuring they are not forgotten.

Eyeglasses Recycling program does more than just improve vision; it fosters a sense of global community and shared responsibility. It teaches us that sustainability and compassion can go hand in hand, turning the cycle of waste into a cycle of hope. This initiative highlights the interconnectedness of our actions and their impact on the world, inspiring others to join in the movement towards a more inclusive and caring society.
