The Phoenix Asian American Lions Club was founded on May 5, 2015 by Lions Ethel Luzario and Ron Smith. Vision for the Future: Understanding the critical importance of sight, the club has initiated vision screening programs, providing free eye exams and glasses to underserved communities. The club has its annual Eye Cataract Surgical Missions to Caborca, Mexico the weekend before Thanksgiving, giving sights to about 90 patients. A team of 20 medical doctors, nurses and professionals from Phoenix coordinate the project with the Caborcan Lions Club. These efforts have brightened the world for many, ensuring that distance or financial constraints do not blur the future of those in need.
A Hunger-Free World: In tackling hunger, the club has partnered with Market On the Move and other local hunger organizations, ensuring that every hand that reaches out for help finds sustenance. Their dedication goes beyond feeding the hungry; it's about nourishing hope and fostering a community where no one goes hungry.
Battling Pediatric Cancer: With a tender touch and a heart full of empathy, the club supports families battling pediatric cancer through its partnership with Childrens Cancer Network.
