UNITED WAY ECONOMIC ADVANCEMENT PROGRAMS

United Way of Central Maryland’s economic advancement programs are helping people gain the skills they need to achieve stable employment. We work with those who are eligible for government benefits to reduce their need for assistance and remove the obstacles keeping them from a job that pays the bills.

Programming helps put people to work, helps local businesses meet their employment needs, and contributes to the economic stability of the region. We are creating a more educated and informed workforce that builds the economy throughout Central Maryland.

As part of our economic advancement work, United Way is launching WorkWays, a comprehensive employee/employer engagement program designed to transform and redefine relationships between employers and talent and create more equitable working environments.

We are helping to create systemic change by promoting a more stable and more robust economy, and helping people pay rent on time, afford better childcare, and gain economic stability and mobility.

Through instruction, training, career mentoring, and apprenticeships, we put people on track to gain the self-sufficiency we all desire and deserve—and that will allow them to attain a stable, healthy life for themselves and their families.
