The mission of Stuhr Museum is to share the collective human experience of community building along the Platte River Valley. The mission of the Stuhr Museum Foundation is to raise unrestricted funds, special project fund, and endowment funds to benefit the living history, education, and preservation programs of Stuhr Museum.

Stuhr Museum of the Prairie Pioneer opened in 1967 with a mission to preserve and portray the inspiring era of pioneer town builders who created the first communities in Nebraska. Stuhr Museum is unique in that it was voted into existence by the governing body for Hall County in 1965.
