VIRGINIA OFF-ROAD

Virginia Off-Road is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting safe, responsible, and inclusive off-road vehicle recreation across Virginia. Our mission is to provide access to public and private off-road trails, educate enthusiasts about OHV (off-highway vehicle) safety and ethics, and foster a community that values environmental stewardship, outdoor adventure, and camaraderie.

Founded to bridge the gap between recreational off-roading and community education, Virginia Off-Road serves a diverse range of off-road enthusiasts—from families exploring trails for the first time to seasoned drivers seeking challenging terrain. We believe off-roading is more than a hobby: it’s a way to connect with nature, strengthen community bonds, and develop practical outdoor skills.

Our programs and initiatives focus on four key pillars:

Trail Access and Preservation: We work with landowners, local governments, and conservation organizations to open and maintain off-road trails while protecting the natural environment. This includes advocating for responsible trail use, performing maintenance projects, and creating sustainable trail designs that minimize environmental impact.

Safety and Education: Through workshops, courses, and digital resources, we teach off-roaders about vehicle safety, navigation, recovery techniques, and trail etiquette. Our OHV Safety & Ethics Course provides in-depth training to ensure that all participants enjoy their adventures responsibly.

Community Engagement: We host events, group rides, and volunteer opportunities to bring the off-roading community together. By fostering inclusion and teamwork, we provide a welcoming environment for women, families, veterans, and enthusiasts of all backgrounds.

Advocacy and Awareness: Virginia Off-Road actively promotes off-road recreation as a positive and sustainable outdoor activity. We collaborate with local and state organizations to protect trail access, educate policymakers, and highlight the economic and recreational benefits of OHV use.

Why we exist: Off-roading is a growing outdoor activity, but access to safe, legal trails and quality education is limited in many areas.
