WALKIN IN MY SHOES INC
KENOSHA, WisconsinWalkin’ In My Shoes is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit charitable organization founded in 2005 in response to the increasing issue of underserved street homeless in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Walkin’ In My Shoes established the Survival Backpack Street Outreach Program to provide information about prevention services that will link the homeless with immediate emergency shelter assistance and to secure adequate placement within 24 hours. This was done in an effort to reduce the number of homeless youth, women and children on the streets of Kenosha who were at risk of being sexually abused, at risk of being exploited, or at risk of being involvement in criminal activity to meet their basic needs.
Our goals and objectives are to:
1). Provide immediate emergency housing for homeless high school students until they graduate high school, and move on to college. We hope to eliminate any worries young teens may have of where they would live while going to school.
2.) Provide permanent housing for chronically homeless [youth, men, and women] who have been living a life on the streets of Kenosha for more than 10 years.
