United Way’s Neighborhood Zones program is a data-informed, community-driven equity initiative enhancing the life and self-sustainability of local communities.
Neighborhood Zones leverage community leadership to co-create solutions with residents and community partners to enhance existing community assets to fill gaps in health, education, workforce development, housing, digital access, and special projects. Priorities are determined by the community for the community.
Focused on multi-generational support, the Neighborhood Zone supports social, economic, and educational advancement in three Neighborhoods – Brooklyn/Curtis Bay, Poppleton and Columbia.
Offerings include an on-site Family Center with childcare for student parents so they can stay in school and graduate, housing and employment assistance, a dropout prevention program, mental health services, access to fresh and healthy food, and more.
By supporting United Way’s Neighborhood Zones, you’re supporting a proven best practice for working with families and communities to create lasting change.
