National Veterans Homeless Support (NVHS) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 2008 with a singular mission: to eliminate homelessness among veterans in Central Florida. What began as a grassroots effort by our founder, George Taylor Sr., has grown into a regionally recognized leader in veteran support services, reducing veteran homelessness in Brevard County by over 90% since our inception.
We serve homeless, at-risk, and low-income veterans and their families through a comprehensive, boots-on-the-ground approach that includes:
Search & Rescue Outreach: Our team actively seeks out homeless veterans where they live—on the streets, in camps, and in hidden corners of our community. We provide basic survival supplies, build trust, and connect them to housing, benefits, and employment services.
Transitional Housing: NVHS offers safe, drug- and alcohol-free housing for veterans in transition. While staying in our homes, veterans receive case management, job search support, and help securing permanent housing.
Homelessness Prevention: We intervene before a crisis occurs, helping veterans facing eviction, job loss, or financial hardship stay in their homes. Our prevention services include rental and utility assistance, budgeting support, and referrals to other community resources.
Post-Traumatic Stress Awareness (PTSA): Recognizing the deep impact of trauma, our PTSA program promotes awareness, action, and anonymity. We offer creative therapy sessions and connect veterans to mental health resources, helping them heal and regain stability.
Case Management & Wraparound Services: Every veteran’s journey is unique. Our case managers work one-on-one with clients to develop personalized plans that address housing, employment, healthcare, and mental wellness.
NVHS is proud to hold a Platinum rating on Candid (GuideStar) and a 4-star rating on Charity Navigator, reflecting our commitment to transparency, fiscal responsibility, and measurable impact.
In 2024 alone, we served over 400 veterans and their families, helping them move from crisis to stability. But our work is far from over. With rising housing costs and inflation, many veterans remain at risk. We need your support to continue this mission and ensure that no veteran is left behind.
