BRANDON CASERTA FOUNDATION
PEORIA, ArizonaThe Brandon Caserta Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to saving lives through suicide prevention, mental health awareness, advocacy, education, resources, and support for active-duty service members, veterans, and their families. The Foundation was established in memory of Navy Airman (AE3) Brandon Caserta, who died by suicide on June 25, 2018, while serving at Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron 28 in Norfolk, Virginia. Brandon's death followed years of bullying, hazing, retaliation, and leadership failures that left him feeling trapped and without support. His tragic loss exposed significant gaps in military mental health awareness, accountability, and access to care. Determined to ensure that no other family experiences a similar tragedy, Brandon's parents, Patrick and Teri Caserta, transformed their grief into action. Their advocacy efforts led to the creation and passage of The Brandon Act, landmark legislation signed into law on December 27, 2021, which allows service members to confidentially request a mental health evaluation without first obtaining approval through their chain of command. Today, The Brandon Caserta Foundation continues that mission by working to improve the lives of service members, veterans, and military families while promoting a culture where seeking help is viewed as a sign of strength rather than weakness. Our mission is to provide hope, advocacy, education, resources, and support to those who serve our nation and the families who stand beside them. We believe that no service member should suffer in silence, no veteran should face their struggles alone, and no family should be left without support during times of crisis. The Foundation's work focuses on several key areas: • Suicide Prevention and Mental Health Awareness We raise awareness about military and veteran suicide, educate communities about available resources, promote mental wellness, and advocate for improved access to mental health care. • Advocacy and Systemic Change We work with members of Congress, the Department of Defense, military leaders, and community organizations to improve policies, increase awareness of The Brandon Act, strengthen accountability, and remove barriers that prevent service members from seeking help. • Family Assistance and Crisis Support We provide guidance and support to military families navigating mental health crises, military systems, and available resources. Through our Family Travel Assistance Program, we help connect families with loved ones during times of crisis when possible. • Education and Outreach We educate service members, veterans, families, healthcare providers, and community members about mental health resources, suicide prevention, and The Brandon Act. We participate in speaking engagements, military events, educational programs, and community outreach initiatives throughout the country. • Community Engagement and Remembrance Through events such as the Walk for Life & Remembrance Lantern Walk, memorial programs, scholarships, and awareness campaigns, we honor the lives of those we have lost while supporting those who are still fighting their battles today. The Brandon Caserta Foundation serves active-duty service members, veterans, military families, Gold Star families, first responders, and community members impacted by mental health challenges and suicide. While our work began with military suicide prevention, our mission has expanded to support anyone affected by these issues. Our vision is a future where every service member knows how to access help, every leader understands their responsibility to support those in need, and every family has access to the resources and support necessary to navigate life's most difficult challenges. At the heart of everything we do is a simple belief: every life matters. Inspired by Brandon's kindness, compassion, and willingness to help others, we remain committed to creating meaningful change, supporting those who are struggling, and ensuring that no one suffers in silence. Saving Lives. Supporting Families. Honoring Service.
