CAMP GO BeYOND is located at beautiful Camp Arroyo in Livermore, CA, and provides a week of activities where kids with IBD can just be kids. Campers receive excellent attention from well-trained and committed counselors who also have IBD, a safe, secure environment of acceptance, and excellent care around the clock from the on-site medical team. CAMP GO BeYOND was created in 2001 by Dr. Mel Heyman, Chief of Pediatric Gastroenterolgy at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital in San Francisco as Camp Gut Busters.
Our camp is staffed by physicians and nurses with expertise in IBD. In addition, almost all of our volunteer counselors are IBD patients which gives them unique insight into the issues and challenges associated with living with IBD. Camper medications are safely stored in our Med Shed and are dispensed by our on-site nurses according to the campers' specifically prescribed schedule.
