Northern Nevada Moses Project serves all of rural Northern Nevada by providing support and resources free of charge to foster children, foster families, at risk children, homeless teens and families in crisis. If there is a need we can fill, we are there to fill it.
Currently Northern Nevada Moses Project holds branches in Elko, Winnemucca, and Reno. This covers a large amount of rural Northern Nevada that would not otherwise be supported. At any given time, there may be as many as 450 foster children in state care, the numbers go even higher when homeless teens and guardianship families are considered. Northern Nevada Moses Project strives to consistently help meet the needs of these families to successfully support children in Northern Nevada plagued with adverse circumstances.
Services provided:
Foster Boutique: Foster children and guardianship children are able to shop for free, choosing the necessities to help them become successful despite their current circumstances.
Emergency Food Pantry: Food and gift cards available to families in crisis, former foster youth, guardianship families and foster families free of charge.
Foster closets in Elko, Winnemucca, and Reno: Supplies and necessities of clothing, shoes, beds, bedding, toiletries, food, gas cards, diapers, wipes, baby supplies, toys, and more!
Free community clothing giveaways: The clothing and items unusable by our foster closet is collected and stored until a two day clothing giveaway event is created. At these events, anyone is able to receive clothing and necessities free of charge. More than 500 people are shopped for at a typical 2 day event.
Currently, Northern Nevada Moses Project has a board of unpaid volunteers.
