Gold Star Gamers exists because no child should navigate the loss of a military or veteran parent alone.
We support military surviving children by transforming gaming into a safe, structured space for connection, mentorship, and healing. For many of the kids we serve, gaming is more than entertainment—it’s how they stay connected to peers, process grief, and rebuild confidence in a world that changed too early.
Built by gamers, for gamers, Gold Star Gamers provides moderated online communities, one-to-one mentorship, esports and STEM-focused programs, and virtual events designed to meet kids where they are. Every program is trauma-informed, youth-safe, and facilitated by trained adults and volunteers who understand both gaming culture and military life.
What We Do
Mentorship through gaming: Children are paired with vetted mentors who connect weekly through online games, offering consistency, encouragement, and positive role modeling.
Safe, moderated communities: Our Discord-based programs provide structured social spaces where kids can belong without fear of harassment or isolation.
STEM and career exploration: We introduce military-connected youth to technology, esports, and creative career pathways—helping them imagine a future beyond their loss.
Virtual events and camps: From esports leagues to holiday parties, we create moments of joy, normalcy, and shared experience.
Why It Matters
Military surviving children face higher risks of isolation, anxiety, and long-term mental health challenges. Gold Star Gamers addresses these risks early by rebuilding connection and community—one child, one mentor, one game at a time.
