AMERICAN BATTLE MONUMENTS FOUNDATION

ABMF is the non-profit partner of the American Battle Monuments Commission (ABMC.gov), the U.S. government agency that administers, operates and maintains all of America’s overseas military cemeteries, including 26 permanent American burial grounds in ten countries, and 31 separate memorials, monuments and markers, all on foreign soil.

Nearly 234,000 American servicemembers are buried or memorialized away from the homeland.

ABMC sites are a tangible and perennial reminder of America’s engagement with its allies in support of democracy around the world, and as such, are a first line of American public diplomacy. Remembering the sacrifices of our parents and grandparents reinforces our essential transatlantic bonds and the relationships we have with our other allies world-wide.

ABMF offers education and outreach in programs that connect young people to the rich history of America's legacy of protecting individual freedom and democratic principles.

The ABMF acts as a portal for inspiration, allowing the ABMC to engage more fully with visitors, local communities, and even with Americans online who may never experience the emotional power of a physical visit to an ABMC site.
