COMMUNITY SECURITY SERVICE
Woodbury, New YorkThe mission of the Community Security Service (CSS) is to protect Jewish life and the Jewish way of life. Our vision is to create an informed and engaged Jewish community that recognizes security as everyone’s responsibility. All activities are conducted on an apolitical, non-denominational basis and are coordinated with law enforcement and the organized Jewish community.
Founded in 2007 by a cadre of former and current security professionals, including military and law enforcement veterans who joined to protect a Manhattan synagogue, the CSS, now with a membership of more than 5,000 trained volunteers across 20 states, has become a leading nonprofit security and safety organization for the United States’ Jewish community. Following a model towards communal security that has been mainstream in Jewish communities in Europe, South Africa, Australia, and Latin America for decades, CSS teams of trained volunteers protect Jewish institutions and events every week.
