The Need

“Formerly incarcerated people need stable jobs for the same reasons as everyone else: to support themselves and their loved ones, pursue life goals and strengthen their communities” (prisonpolicy.org).

Veterans

The transition from military to civilian life can be challenging for some veterans. While most say readjusting to civilian life was very or somewhat easy, roughly one-in-four say it was at least somewhat difficult.

Cost of CDL Training

Currently, the average cost of CDL training can range anywhere from $3,000 to $7,000. And for the veterans and the formerly incarcerated, they most likely do not have the means to pay the fees associated with obtaining a CDL.

Our plan is to provide the CDL training at no cost. We plan to solicit funding through grants, private funding, and other sustainability measures. The funding covers the salary for the trainers, and other expenses related to equipment leasing and space leasing to hold classes.
