Deborah Heart and Lung Center is a global leader in the field of cardiology, pulmonary, and vascular care. We offer a wide range of advanced surgical procedures and non-surgical alternatives for the diagnosis and treatment of cardiac, pulmonary, and vascular diseases in adults and children, including congenital and acquired heart defects.

Deborah Heart and Lung Center is a distinguished medical institution specializing in the prevention, diagnosis, research, and treatment of cardiac, pulmonary, and vascular diseases. Since its establishment in 1922, Deborah has gained regional and national recognition as a leader in specialized healthcare. Deborah has earned a reputation as a premier healthcare facility, sought after by individuals worldwide for its exceptional medical expertise.
As one of the foremost specialty care hospitals in the nation, Deborah offers advanced surgical procedures and non-surgical alternatives for the diagnosis and treatment of cardiac, pulmonary, and vascular diseases in adults, as well as congenital and acquired heart defects in both adults and children.
Deborah Heart and Lung Center is a certified Ventricular Assist Device (LVAD) facility, encompassing both "bridge-to-transplant" and "destination therapy" LVAD implants. It serves as the sole hospital LVAD procedure site in South Jersey.
The Left Ventricular Assist Device (LVAD) is a mechanical pump surgically implanted in patients to mitigate the progression of severe congestive heart failure. Functioning as a support mechanism, the LVAD assists a malfunctioning left ventricle in pumping blood. Patients who receive an LVAD are either awaiting a heart transplant, using it as a temporary measure ("bridge-to-transplant"), or rely on it as a long-term solution for heart failure ("destination therapy").
Deborah Heart and Lung Center is ranked as the #1 highest-volume Left Ventricular Assist Device (LVAD) implant center in the United States.
Deborah has earned the distinguished 3-star rating from the Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS) for its patient care and outcomes in isolated coronary artery bypass grafting and isolated aortic valve replacement surgeries. This recognition makes Deborah one of the top cardiothoracic centers in the United States and Canada. The STS three-star rating is the highest designation awarded by the STS and is one of the most highly regarded overall measures of quality in health care.
Deborah Heart and Lung Center is an Alliance Member with the Cleveland Clinic, which is ranked #1 in the nation for heart care. As an alliance member, Deborah elevates cardiovascular care for patients in the region – allowing for the sharing of best practices, new treatments, and therapies. Patients benefit from:

Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States; it affects every segment of the population. It is the leading cause of death among all Americans, men, and women alike. It is also the leading cause of death among Whites and Blacks and the second leading cause of death among Hispanics and Asians. One person dies every 36 seconds in the U.S. from cardiovascular disease. About 659,000 Americans die from heart disease each year – accounting for one in every four deaths.
Over 60% of women believe their biggest health threat is breast cancer, but cardiovascular disease (Heart disease) kills six times as many women as breast cancer. Heart disease is the number one killer of women, causing one in three deaths each year. That is approximately one woman every minute.
Health care hardship access increases the odds by 47% of people having heart disease. People with a high degree of financial insecurity (those who said they frequently felt stressed about having enough money to pay their rent or mortgage) were more than twice as likely to have heart disease as those who considered themselves financially secure.
