WVUG has a partnership and collaboration with VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System DRRTP to hold recovery marathon through our Rehabilitation/Recovery Initiative (RRI) throughout the year and WVUG Thanksgiving Recovery Marathon & Dinner. This marathon has been held at the Domiciliary Residential Rehabilitation & Treatment Program (DRRTP), VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System to promote recovery from addictions and serve Thanksgiving dinner ongoing since 2005. All marathons have speakers, groups, from all fellowships of Alcoholics Anonymous, Cocaine Anonymous, and Narcotic Anonymous from 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. held at VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System DRRTP building 217 rooms 26-28. This is held for all the recovering communities, veteran patients, and veteran programs that are housed at the VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System to provide self-help support, rehabilitation, and help sustain sobriety from drug and alcohol addictions. And to make sure that all hospitalized veterans at the VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System and their communities have a day filled with comraderie, food, coffee, fellowship, and fun in a therapeutic environment. We provide morning refreshments, lunch, and our thanksgiving dinner has all the trimmings. We provide recovery books, recovery literature, decorations, cookies, beverages, pastries to 300 plus hospitalized veterans.
