Stratford Street United Church

The Stratford Street United Church (SSUC) is a neighborhood mission-based church right in the heart of West Roxbury. Our progressive and welcoming Christian community started a food pantry in 2016 as a major mission of our church in response to the growing problem of food insecurity in the greater Boston area. Rose’s Bounty has grown rapidly since we first opened and now serves an average of 960 individuals every month through four programs: our pantry which is open two days each month, the Chittick School backpack program which provides meals during weekends and school vacations, a program which delivers customized packages of food to low income and homeless veterans, and a program targeting the elderly members of our community living with food insecurity.
Two things that make our pantry program unique are that we do not restrict participants by address, as many of the surrounding food pantries do, and that we take pride in providing a bounty of fresh fruits and vegetables along with non-perishable items.
