RESCUE RESIDENCE

We will directly interview, screen, and recruit veterans experiencing homelessness that meet the following three criteria:
1. Want to get help dealing with addiction issues (Initially, we will coordinate with other veteran support organizations to provide for these individuals we meet. Eventually we may be able to assist with this concern within our program).
2. Willing to leave their current area (Los Angeles, San Diego, and Riverside to begin with) during the process of reestablishing personal stability.
3. Possess previous training/experience or currently have a willingness to learn a skill-based profession (diesel mechanic, welder, electrician, etc.).
A veteran meeting these criteria will come live in quarters provided near the workshop. While living in the temporary quarters, they will be assigned to a permanent address on our RV lot. We will use this address to get the participant set up for training and certification, and start working on resumes and applications for jobs.
Most of their time with us will be spent designing and building a mobile tiny home inside a retired ambulance. Our team will work with them on the design and build process. Through sweat equity and eventually the complete payment of the vehicle/home, the vehicle will become the property of the program participant. This ambulance they build will be able to operate “off-grid” and will provide them the mobility and freedom they need to move into the next phase of their life.
This entire process from the initial interview, through the training and build process, to the final acceptance of a job and leaving the Rescue + Residence program will be filmed and published on YouTube as a documentary on our mission and each veteran’s unique story of decline and resurgence. If interested, we will even work to set the participants up with their own ability for them to share their story after they leave our site.
