The Abundant Harvest

Abundant Harvest Kitchen was born from need. In 2017, Hurricane Harvey transformed the Texas landscape into a watery wasteland, displacing countless thousands who watched their homes and communities destroyed. It was traumatizing and left a hunger. A hunger for basic food, help to rebuild and hope. From this, Harvest Kitchen’s simple yet powerful mission – feed the body, nourish the soul and transform the community - was put to task. With a single food truck and the endearing belief of Executive Director Rev. Sean Steele, Abundant Harvest affected positive change.

Through the years and during hardship, the hunger as grown!

In 2020 as COVID shut down most of the world, Abundant Harvest Kitchen opened its doors, using more than 1 million pounds of food to provide more than 10,000 meals to those in need. A safe haven was created. As the kitchen fed members of our community, we could provide information about current events, provide resources, give rest, and help comfort those trapped between starvation and uncertainty. Abundant Harvest Kitchen continues to expand as the hunger grows and rising costs of food soars. Our on-site food pantry feeds more than 1,200 families per month through free daily meals at our Café that doubles as an eclectic venue for events along with 800-900 free hot meals per month to those in need.

Abundant Harvest Kitchen provides a host of services ranging from available laundry and gas cards, mental health services, community wellness program, veteran programs, senior adult program, and small business incubation.
