211 LA County, a 501(c)3 organization, is one of the largest and most effective resource lines in the nation providing access to comprehensive social services and disaster support for L.A. County residents. 211 LA’s innovative programs are examples of the best practices in assessing, coordinating and integrating the health and human services needed by the most underserved and vulnerable populations of one of the most culturally diverse counties in the country. With one phone call, clients are directly screened and connected with the services they need for themselves or their children, including shelters, meals, autism screening, veterans’ services, substance abuse programs, health care, and mental health services, and access to jobs.
211 LA is also the creator and manager of the internationally adopted AIRS/211 LA County Taxonomy of Human Services. Since 1982, the Taxonomy has provided an infrastructure for human services databases including those maintained by 2-1-1′s, statewide aging, ADRC and HMIS systems as well as other disability related I & R services and specialized information lines. 211 LA is a recognized innovator and leader in the field of information and referral, pioneering software development, performance management, care coordination, and quality assurance best practices.
