California Men’s Gatherings (CMG) fosters a safe, supportive, welcoming community where men challenge themselves to develop their emotional, spiritual, social, intellectual, and physical lives – with as much fun as possible along the way! CMG is an all-volunteer organization. Our members both produce and attend all of our events. We feel that we have been given a gift to have the men of CMG in our lives and we aim to give back or pay forward that gift by providing the space for new men to experience acceptance, compassion, understanding and love for who they are, who they'd like to be, what they'd like to be. We have ZERO paid staff. All funds raised go back into the community, either the wider community [by raising $$ for such organizations as AIDSWalk] or our own community by providing financial aid for the Gathering weekends.
California Men's Gatherings has been offering men a place to connect since 1978. Started by Vietnam Veterans, by 1989, CMG had become about 50% gay and bisexual men because it provided a welcoming environment. Since then, it has fully embraced the idea that many men who did not conform to the typical gender expression failed to have experiences which would help them feel comfortable being honestly who they were.
