Next Move Homeless Services, formerly known as Sacramento Area Emergency Housing Center (SAEHC), began by meeting the basic needs of seven homeless families in 1972. Just as the community needs have grown, so too have the scope of our goals and services; we have evolved to meet the growing challenges of our program participants. Our shelters, transitional housing, and permanent supportive housing programs have expanded to include: the provision of individualized case plans, self-reliance workshops, employment readiness, and group support such as living skills, parenting, budgeting, housing, health and mental health care, housing relocation assistance and community support services.
With the support of generous donors, sponsors and community volunteers, Next Move's innovation in program development and service provision has made measurable and meaningful impact in the lives of the families and individuals we have served for more than fifty years.
