Back 2 School NY: Promoting Opportunity and Belonging Through Sports and School Readiness

Back 2 School (B2S) New York is an annual AKP Sports Foundation initiative dedicated to serving underserved and low-income children and families in preparation for the new school year. Through the distribution of free backpacks, school supplies, and educational resources, NY B2S helps remove financial barriers and ensures students are prepared to enter the classroom with dignity and confidence.
The event brings together youth, families, community leaders, and volunteers for a dynamic day of athletic engagement, mentorship, and community celebration. Centered around one of the East Coast’s largest basketball tournaments, NY B2S creates a high-energy environment that promotes physical wellness, teamwork, and positive youth development. Participants connect with mentors and community role models who reinforce leadership, perseverance, and personal growth.
By integrating practical support with meaningful community experiences, NY B2S strengthens families, builds confidence, and helps ensure every child begins the school year feeling equipped, supported, and empowered for success.
