The ideal of justice for all means that each of us deserves the opportunity to make the most of our potential. We believe as part of society, our moral obligation is to ensure every member of our community has the chance to thrive and contribute—regardless of where they live, where they came from, or who their parents were. Unfortunately, today too many of our neighbors and their families have had their chances snuffed out by poverty. With sky-high housing costs, and child care in short supply, the cost of living is rising out of reach for more and more families. When keeping the heat on for your children and food on the table are daily struggles, a better future becomes an impossible dream. The Opportunity Council fights for that future through education, emergency aid, and developing the foundations for a brighter future through community investment. By working directly with individuals and families held back by the anchor of poverty, we help unleash their potential so our whole community can thrive.
Acting as leaders in organizing whatever is needed to build stronger communities, Community Action-based programs work with partners in our communities to address local emerging needs.
Community Action changes people’s lives, embodies the spirit of hope, improves communities, and makes America a better place to live. We care about the entire community, and we are dedicated to helping people help themselves and each other.
