Program: Cutting the Path
We are very excited to be able to offer an incredible opportunity to get in the show pen and compete. Cutting the Path: Veteran/Youth Challenge, is a competative show that pairs a veteran and youth rider in a cumulative point challenge. This is how it will work:
Practices will continue this month. It is a requirement to have two cattle works and two flag works minimum each month. It is your responsibility to coordinate with JoLynn and John to get these scheduled. Each rider will compete Saturday and Sunday at each show. The points from the runs will be totaled over the runs/shows and a champion and reserve champion team will be crowned at the final show. Show dates are TBD but will be held with Minnesota Cutting Horse Association (MCHA) approved events in 2026. The shows will be at the MCHA approved facilities. There are several lodging options available depending on how private you would like things to be. Options include onsite, hotel, or offsite shared home. We will gather as a team Saturday and plan to cheer on our youth in the late morning. Veterans will show at the end of the day. Please expect long days filled competing and supporting fellow participants, all while having the opportunity to immerse yourself in the sport for a weekend. As with all things in horsemanship, commitment is key. This opportunity will be funded and made possible through the hard work and generosity of many people. We are asking each of you to secure a $500 business/personal sponsorship to help support the program. You could cover the costs yourself, but a big part of this program is community involvement and support. We will provide you with the sponsorship letter and package description. The goal will be to secure your sponsorship by the July show. We are honored to be a part of this and look forward to seeing you all in the show pen and with a buckle on your belt.
