Technology Donation Matching Platform - facilitating technology donations in cities across the U.S.

Since 2003, our proprietary technology donation platform has connected individuals and corporations who wish to donate computers with more than 1500 trusted Digital Opportunity Network member nonprofit organizations across the country that are using technology to serve low income people and underrepresented populations in need.

The platform is a complete end-to-end matching technology donation solution that automates the majority of the process for a technology donation, and it is designed to simplify the process of technology giving to vetted nonprofits. Hundreds of thousands of computers have been placed since the platform’s inception, providing an incalculable positive impact on recipients’ lives.

The current project goal is to upgrade our existing legacy software platform that manages the end-to-end process of technology donations, distribution, and deployment. The current system tracks corporate donations and matches them with registered nonprofit service providers. It also facilitates the management and reporting of the entire donation process. However, the software is outdated, not mobile-compatible, and lacks certain functionalities required for efficient scalability and ease of use for cities, states, and local community organizations as they implement digital equity plans across the United States.

Phase 1 of the project is self funded and almost completed. This was the upgrade and expansion of the individual consumer computer donation interface to a mobile first experience.

The second phase of the project which we are seeking funding for involves upgrading the existing software to a newer, more robust platform, adding new features, reporting and tracking, and migrating to a modern software architecture. We aim to make the system mobile-compatible, enhance the user experience through a more robust customer portal, and integrate with third-party software packages commonly used in the technology, repair, refurbishment, and logistics industry.
