AskSME.org, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and registered California State Charity, was founded in December of 2020 by a group of christians aiming to help students of all backgrounds, especially for under-resourced students.
We strive to make a lifelong impact on students through learning support.
We provide “relationship-centric” & “career-related” training programs for young people to enrich their volunteer and career building experience.
Amidst Covid challenge in 2021, AskSME successfully launched two main programs:
1) Student-led summer tutoring program: This program served over 30 students in need. The student tutors are mentored and trained by many experienced mentors and advisors.
2) Hands-on Robotics community club: By partnering with FIRST organization, we started our first FTC Robotics team named Sleeping Slothz. The team members are middle and high schoolers coming from various schools and geographic locations including Bay Area and Toronto in Canada. This hands-on Robotics program helps to spark the student’s interests in STEM, so they can learn new skills to enhance their lives and possibilities, especially in breaking the cycle of poverty for under-resourced students. Many industry veterans and experienced professionals serve as the mentors and advisors to this Robotics Club.
With ongoing support from our donors and volunteers, we look forward to developing more programs for students in need in 2022.
