Esperanza, a non-profit organization, has been assisting homeless veterans in Tucson since 1989. Our housing campus, next to the Davis Monthan Boneyard offers 72 transitional housing units for single veterans and veteran families. Our mission is to help veterans overcome the barriers that prevent them from obtaining permanent housing and a fresh start in life. Each year, we assist approximately 250 veterans in this endeavor.
Homeless Veterans often face numerous obstacles to securing permanent housing, such as medical and mental health issues, unemployment, poor credit history, prior evictions, and criminal background, to name a few.
At Esperanza, we address these challenges head-on by providing our Veterans with comprehensive social service support, including room and board, transportation, and access to food pantries twice a week on campus. We aim to help veterans maintain their housing and improve their nutritional, mental, and physical well-being.
We also have 44 long-term one-bedroom units on campus for low-income veterans aged 55 or older and 44 long-term family units. Our commitment to providing a stable and nurturing environment for veterans is unwavering.
