Heroes on the Quabbin: Empowering Veterans Through Outdoor Recreation and Community Support
Founded in 2022, Heroes on the Quabbin provides veterans with relaxing outdoor experiences like fishing and boating to promote healing, connection, and well-being. What began as a simple idea to bring laughter and camaraderie to veterans has grown into a vital program that continues to make a difference in their lives.
This year, we are working to secure a pontoon boat modified to accommodate our friends in wheelchairs, ensuring they have the same fishing and boating opportunities as others.
Additionally, we’ve launched the Dirty Nip Challenge, a community-driven initiative focused on cleaning up local streets and public spaces. It’s been gaining traction in several communities, and we’re excited to see more people getting involved.
We are also looking to partner with local veteran organizations to help them fund special projects that will improve their facilities and directly benefit the veterans they serve.
