Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Mustang Rescue Program

, CONVERGENCE-WA ORG

America’s wild mustangs have become symbolic of the spirit of our great Country’s heritage and our hard-won freedom. Yet today many of these majestic animals are not free themselves. They are kept in holding pens in the western United States. Since the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) program was enacted in 1971 upwards of 70,000 of these animals remain in captivity.

The freedom we continue to enjoy today, and our children and their children will enjoy, is mainly from the sacrifices which have been made by America’s military. In a major study it was estimated that 13.5% of Veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan suffer from PTSD.

CONVERGENCE understands the symbiotic human-horse relationship and the incredible behavioral, spiritual and mental therapeutic benefits which result from this.

What the CONVERGENCE program offers:
- We are only twenty-eight panels shy of having our ranch’s main pasture enclosed and ready for our Veterans and mustangs.
- Equine therapy is one of the best methods to treat PTSD
- We have two trainers ready
- Mustangs will help support our Sustainable Eco-friendly Affordable Housing Communities (SEAComms), dude ranches, and bring in tourism
- USDA has agreed, in principle, for a land grant for a SEAComm with provisions of clearing the space and cutting in trails which are for public use, which CONVERGENCE will maintain.
- Trails can be used for hiking, horseback riding and more
- Fiber can be dropped along those trails as we’re building out broadband
- Entertainment for tourists – hayrides, sleigh rides and horseback riding
- Mustangs are great for rough terrain search and rescue operations
- Mustangs are a part of the CONVERGENCE Agriculture Supply Chain program
