inExcelsis is a grassroots St. Louis based 501(c)(3) organization, essentially made of volunteers and former clients. We are committed to serving unhoused individuals, families, and veterans in the greater St. Louis area. Our work is grounded in Patient Compassion, Intentional Respect, Unconditional Love, and Dignity, for every guest we serve.
InExcelsis has four major programs that are relationship-oriented and tailored to respond adequately to the needs of families, individuals, and communities.
At the core of everything we do is delivering dignity through exceptional compassion, love, and respect to people experiencing homelessness—something many of our unhoused neighbors rarely encounter. Our programs and services benefit immensely from the dedication of generous visitors like yourself.
The most recent program is Dignity on Wheels (DoW), a Mobile Shower Initiative designed to improve the health and well-being of unhoused people in greater St. Louis by providing hot mobile showers, comprehensive medical care, and connection to essential resources.
The mobile shower operation features a trailer with four private stalls, each equipped with a shower, toilet, and sink. Towed by a truck, it travels throughout the city and county, delivering essential hygiene services to the unhoused. Self-sustaining with a water heater, air conditioning, and a generator, the trailer offers not just cleanliness but dignity, providing a safe, private space for people in need.
Another major program that defines inExcelsis' exceptional compassion and dedication to serving families, individuals and veterans is the Winter Safe Haven program. This initiative offers warmth and shelter to those most in need as temperatures plunge below freezing mark. It provides motel accommodations to unhoused individuals, families, and unsheltered veterans, ensuring they are not forsaken during the winter's harshest nights. Beyond offering a safe refuge from the cold, it extends a hand of fellowship. It affirms that in the heart of the community, no one is left behind or deemed undeserving of shelter.
