Cinema Systers 2026 celebrates its 10th anniversary as the only lesbian film festival in the U.S. intentionally centering the work of lesbian filmmakers and artists. In a film industry—and society—that continues to underrepresent queer women, this woman-focused, public festival creates space for stories that challenge the normative hetero-patriarchal lens. We honor the lives, art, and voices of lesbians whose experiences are too often silenced, using film as a tool for visibility, community, and cultural change. As we mark this milestone year, we remain committed to uplifting lesbian creativity while fostering inclusive dialogue, joy, and resistance. The festival draws filmmakers from across the U.S. and around the world, building a powerful sense of global connection. In 2022, we received 68 film submissions, with 44 officially selected and screened. The comradery and sense of belonging that emerges is unmatched—Cinema Systers is more than a film festival; it’s a movement.
