TThe main purpose of our non-profit (Trauma to Triumphs, Inc.; DBA "bKind") is to work with community leaders, business establishments, corporations, and volunteers, to design/implement programs and provide vital resources, that give underprivileged individuals opportunity to maximize their personal talents and skills; advance their achievement; and strengthen their community.
From its inception, the driving force of our organization has been to give children, families, and adults in schools, shelters, and communities, the tools needed to overcome obstacles, combat trauma, and break the cycle of poverty, discrimination, and deprivation. Consistent with our motto of “Never look down on someone, unless you are helping them up (Jesse Jackson),” is our vision of inclusion that transforms prejudice, discrimination, division, and deprivation into a culture of unity, diversity, tolerance, and achievement. We rely on the support of an expanding network of socially conscious, compassionate individuals, and partner corporations, anxious to share their skills and areas of expertise through programs, classes, and collaborative community projects.
Documentation of our work in communities during this year-long COVID crisis is evidence of the ongoing effort and commitment to program development that inherently provides long term change and optimal results. Our teams of highly competent, skilled volunteers collaborated with the community to combat food insufficiency, isolation, trauma, and the debilitating consequences of school shutdowns for families who had little or no access to computers, WiFi, supplementary academic programs, or activities to keep people safe.
We provided food and resources; initiated wellness programs in neighborhoods where there’s a dire need for food, supplies, equal access to physical and mental health resources; as well as laptops, supplemental school materials, and programs for youth, which will continue as time goes on.
As founder of bKind and Trauma to Triumphs, Inc., I humbly share that on April 16, 2021 the New York State Assembly recognized the accomplishments of our organization and vision for long term change.
The “CITATION” on behalf of the state of New York describes “exemplary service…to community” and states that “Through this work you have established a strong and lasting legacy as an Advocate for constituents that has greatly inspired the next generation.” The concluding statement exemplifies the bKind mission and goals, supported by CitiBike, providing a means of travel throughout food distribution and program sites to disadvantaged communities. The “Citation” signed by Assemblyman Harvey Epstein concludes, “You are an outstanding community member, one who is worthy of the esteem of both the community and the State of New York for your dedicated and tireless service to our city, the state, and our nation;” and gives evidence of the goals and long term commitment of bKind, sustained by the vision and generosity of our corporate partners who donate their time, expertise, and support.

*** BELIEF STATEMENTS ****
We believe that everyone deserves basic necessities, education,& equal opportunity.
We believe that the generosity of others can eradicate fear, hunger, deprivation,& loss
We believe that kindness transforms the world into a better place for all.
We believe that when someone is in need, we must act in solidarity.
We believe, never look down on someone, unless you're helping them up.
We believe every human's birthright is to be treated with dignity, equality, and respect.
We believe that in the wake of devastation and suffering, we have the opportunity to demonstrate the true GOODNESS in humanity.
“I think trauma really does confront you with the best and the worst. You see the horrendous things that people do to each other, but you also see resiliency, the power of love, the power of caring, the power of commitment, the knowledge that there are things that are larger than our individual survival. And in some ways, I don’t think you can appreciate the glory of life unless you also know the dark side of life”.
~ Dr. Bessel van der Kolk
