Fortis Therapy Center, established in April 2018, is driven by a commitment to deliver accessible, high-quality physical therapy services for individuals across the age spectrum. With a focus on innovation and inclusivity, the center launched its first pro bono initiative, Project Walk, in January 2022, targeting pediatric physical therapy to address the distinctive needs of children and their families. Expanding its reach, adult outpatient services were introduced in the fall of 2022, followed by the inception of Project Heros in the fall of 2023, a specialized program tailored for veterans and first responders. Currently, the center is piloting a pro bono neurological physical therapy intensive program, catering to adults coping with conditions like stroke, traumatic brain injuries, and spinal cord injuries. Fortis Therapy Center's primary goal is to alleviate mobility, stability, and strength limitations hindering patients from achieving their functional objectives. Through evidence-based interventions and meticulous goal-setting, the center ensures tangible improvements while upholding accountability in resource utilization. By embracing a data-driven approach and showcasing transformative outcomes, Fortis Therapy Center underscores its dedication to fostering meaningful and positive impacts in the lives of its beneficiaries, exemplifying a commitment to rehabilitation and healthcare excellence.
Project Walk, launched in January 2022, aimed to provide rehabilitation services to children with mobility impairments. Over the years, the project saw a consistent rise in patient numbers. Starting with 12 participants in 2022, it grew to serve 18 patients in 2023. In 2023, a pivotal collaboration with Baylor University initiated a research study, studying the neuroplasticity changes in children participating in 3 week physical therapy intensives. The momentum persisted into 2024, serving 15 patients so far this year. Such demand necessitated planning ahead, with bookings extending through 2024 and early bookings for 2025 already underway. However, this demand also posed challenges, requiring expansion to cater to more patients without lengthy waitlists.
Our pro bono initiatives are poised for growth through the success of our fundraising efforts. Intensive physical therapy services typically cost $6,000-$8,000; these pro-bono programs make it accessible to all families in need. Each program is led by specialized physical therapists who provide personalized, high-quality care for every patient.
