Founded in 2016, Laptops 4 Learning (L4L) is a nonprofit charitable organization, which has created a life changing program, focused on providing laptop computers to Elementary to College level students and Veterans. While our program is open to ANY student, grant funding and private donations are used strictly to offset the cost for those students from low socio-economic backgrounds.
The broad goal of L4L is to close the digital technology divide that exists for the less privileged, and make affordable technology available to ANY student or veteran in need, particularly for those who do not have the financial means to obtain a computer. Students and Veterans are able to receive their own personal laptop at a cost ranging from $145 - $305 depending upon the model of laptop they require. L4L works to form partnerships with public and private school districts, alternative schools, community colleges, four-year College and University systems, community service agencies, churches and military veteran support groups, to identify and connect with ANY student or veteran who demonstrates a need for a computer. L4L believes that NO student should be without a laptop, simply because they cannot afford one.
Fundraising Strategy
Laptops 4 Learning’s pursuit of funding sources includes all of the following as detailed below:
- Individual Private Donations: We promote the L4L offering by actively presenting the program concept and mission to any individual who may wish to contribute funds. These funds can then be used to offset the cost of the laptop for those students who may not be able to pay the full price, or the donor may sponsor a designated program participant and pay the full cost (Student or Veteran). L4L WILL HONOR ANY DONOR REQUESTS TO APPLY THEIR DONATION TO A SPECIFIC STUDENT, SCHOOL OR COMMUNITY ORGANIZATION. All donations are tax deductible.
- Corporate/Small Business Giving and Sponsorship: Proactively solicit funding from corporate and small business entities that recognize the value of providing technology tools to individuals in need of assistance to further their academic and career aspirations. L4L encourages businesses to conduct employee fundraisers for students needing laptops. L4L partners with your company to promote and assist with the fundraiser.
- Grant Funding Organizations: Grant funding is the primary means for L4L to honor our mission to keep laptop costs affordable. For families with multiple students, it has been particularly challenging for them to provide each one of their children with this critical technology tool. No longer can a family get by with only one laptop in the household. Charitable organizations, such as Benevity, are essential to our being able to offset the laptop cost with 50% or greater matching funding, in order to ensure that the cost to students and their families is affordable.
- “Help-Fund-My Laptop” Donations: Program participants have been provided a simple registration procedure that allows for and encourages them to enthusiastically seek donations from their own personal contacts, who may be interested in helping them succeed in obtaining a laptop. L4L encourages students to contribute whatever they personally can towards the cost of their laptops, with the belief that student “skin in the game” when possible, instills a greater appreciation for the laptop. Encouraging students to reach out to their support network for donations is one way they can demonstrate skin in the game, even when they are not able to financially contribute towards the laptop cost.
- Donor Community Recognition: Laptops 4 Learning acknowledges donors and grant organizations’ generosity by attaching a cover sheet to the laptops thanking the specified donor for making this opportunity to receive a laptop possible for the student recipient. In August of 2023, L4L was interviewed for a second time by a local news station, ABC15 News, for our contribution to the community. Product Sourcing
Laptops 4 Learning purchases the laptops we provide from three different Microsoft Certified supplier sources. We do not accept personally donated laptops because we want to ensure that the laptops are quality laptops, that they meet our minimum requirements of being installed with Windows 10, a webcam, and that they include a one-year warranty.

The overarching marketing goal for L4L is to make this program and mission known to more and more funding organizations who would be interested in supporting us in our mission to close the digital divide and make sure that NO student in need is denied the opportunity to own a laptop. We thank you in advance for considering supporting these students. Please let us know if your company would be willing to also conduct an employee fundraiser, or if you would like to personally sponsor a student in need of a laptop, by emailing us at admin@laptops4learning.com or calling 602-358-6649.
