Community Garden Kitchen (CGK) is the first facility in Collin County, TX that serves freshly prepared meals to anyone in need, no paperwork required, no questions asked. This is a free meal restaurant, open in the evenings to meet the needs of the working poor, student population, senior citizens, veterans, the homeless and forgotten. Our free standing 4,700 sq.ft. building is debt free so all donations go to supporting the food program, named "Angela's Table". Patrons enjoy a restaurant style experience, with wait staff and a limited menu from which they can make choices of what they wish to eat. Meals are prepared by volunteers, guided by a professional chef, our only full time employee. Dining with dignity is the standard by which we serve. The facility is located in an area of greatest need, within walking distance for hundreds of at-risk food insecure people. In the two years of operation 60,000 free meals have been served.
CGK has also partnered with other agencies serving the food insecure population. In the first year, CGK distributed 66 tons of food to these partners, enabling them to offer their constituents with much needed food supplies.
Over 180 volunteers serve each week in a variety of ways to insure meals are served in a safe and welcoming facility.
